Works on Basingstoke Road/Hyde End Road were broadly completed 23rd December 2016 with the junction fully open and operational. Only minor items remain which should be completed by end of January but with this will cause no disruption to road users.

Beams drop into place

The beams for a new six-lane bridge over the M4 were lifted into place as part of the £25 million Shinfield Eastern Relief Road project last week. The six pairs of 45 metre-long steel beams will form the main span of the new bridge which will link the Black Boy Roundabout to the new 1.8km Shinfield Eastern Relief Road currently under construction. Following discussions with Reading Football Club, the planned M4 closure between J11 and J10 on the evening of Thursday 3rd December has been postponed until 23:00.   Supporters attenting the match against Queens Park Rangers should be able to leave Madejski Stadium as normal, rather than being affected by the roadworks which were initially scheduled to begin at 21:00.
