Eastern Relief Road Overnight Closures

We are carrying out the final surfacing and road markings on Shinfield Road (A327), extending from the Cutbush Lane junction to the old M4 bridge and including minor sections of the gyratory system.  Due to the volume of traffic that uses Shinfield Road during the day and the size of the machinery that we need to use, we will be closing this section of Shinfield Road overnight as follows:

A327 to Reading only closed and traffic diverted.

A327 to Shinfield open as usual.

Cutbush Lane accessed via A327 when travelling from Reading and via Wychelm Road
when travelling from Shinfield.

Shinfield Road (Cutbush Lane to the Black Boy)

A327 fully closed in both

directions.

All traffic diverted.

Shinfield Road  (Cutbush Lane to the Black Boy)

07th April

A327 fully closed in both

directions.

** Diversion routes **

Through-traffic (to Reading)

  • Travel along the A327 through Shinfield and then take the B3349 Hyde End Road to
    Spencers Wood
  • At Spencers Wood turn right onto Basingstoke Road towards Three Mile Cross
  • Travel through Three Mile Cross and at the traffic lights turn right onto the A33 towards Reading
  • At the junction 11 roundabout turn right towards Earley (B3270)
  • Continue to the Black Boy roundabout

Through-traffic (from Reading)

  • From Black Boy roundabout travel along the B3270 to junction 11
  • At the junction 11 roundabout turn left towards Basingstoke on the A33
  • Turn left again onto Basingstoke Road and into Three Mile Cross
  • Continue to Spencers Wood and turn left onto the B3349 towards Shinfield and then join the A327

Local traffic (to Cutbush Lane)

  • From the A327 turn onto Wychelm Road, then turn left onto Wheatfields Road
  • Turn right onto Seymour Avenue, then left onto Oatlands Road and join Cutbush Lane

We recognise that construction work can be disruptive to those living or working nearby.  Unfortunately, the nature of our work, machinery and vehicles means some disturbance is unavoidable.  However, every effort is made to minimise any unnecessary noise and we have reminded all staff to be considerate of the environment they are working in.  Access for pedestrians, cyclists and the emergency services will be maintained.
