The installation of the bridge beams was completed during late November / early December.  However, due to the high winds and adverse weather experienced, we were unable to carry out additional associated works to the permanent formwork for the bridge deck construction and the safety hoarding to the outside of the bridge. Completion of these works is planned to be carried out over 3 nights from 6th January to 8th January inclusive (subject to weather conditions).  During this time our site hours overnight will be 18:00 to 06:00.

How does this affect residents and businesses?

We will make every effort to minimise disruption to residents while we’re working on site, although the equipment we use means some noise is unavoidable.  Access will be required to the offices and facilities at the Lane End Farm compound during the above periods. To carry out the work safely and to minimise disruption to the travelling public, we need to close the M4 between 21:00 and 06:00.  Diversion route signage will be in place to direct through-traffic onto the following agreed route – map attached:

Eastbound traffic:

Exit the M4 at junction 11, travel along the B3270 to Black Boy roundabout.  Continue straight ahead on the B3270 (Lower Earley Way) to the Showcase roundabout. Take the 2nd exit (straight ahead) onto the A3290, then join the A329(M) and re-join the M4 eastbound at junction 10.

Westbound traffic:

Exit the M4 at junction 10, travel along the A329(M) towards Reading, then join the A3290 to-wards the Showcase roundabout.  At the Showcase roundabout take the 2nd exit (straight ahead) and continue on the B3270 (Lower Earley Way). Travel along the B3270 and at Black Boy roundabout continue straight ahead to re-join the M4 at junction 11.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank-you once again for your patience.
