Further to our recent update regarding traffic changes around the existing M4 bridge area, please find an updated plan of minor changes to traffic movements in Shinfield which are due to come into effect during the day on Wednesday 7th September 2016. This is the planned change which was notified some weeks ago and is now being implemented.

Traffic heading north out of Shinfield will now be permanently redirected onto the new M4 Overbridge which was opened to southbound traffic at the end of July 2016.  We are then handing the old bridge over to Highways England so they can undertake structural repairs and waterproofing of the bridge deck.  Once complete, the old bridge will be converted into a shared footway/cycleway and northbound bus link to the Black Boy Roundabout.

We will be continuing with finishing works on the relief road, Arborfield Road and Shinfield Road over the coming weeks, including commissioning the all new traffic signals.  Once all of these elements are complete, the relief road will be fully opened and we will advise in due course when this will happen.
